Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe kindergarten is a powerful time to shape confidence, identity, and a love for learning. As an educator, I want every child to feel valued, understood, and capable. I am especially passionate about supporting diverse families and creating culturally responsive classrooms where children’s languages, cultures, and experiences are honored. Teaching allows me to build strong relationships with children and families while helping young learners grow academically.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable moments in a Spanish immersion school was watching a quiet kindergarten student begin the year shy and unsure about speaking Spanish. Through songs, stories, and encouragement, he slowly gained confidence. One day he proudly shared a full sentence in Spanish with the class. The joy on his face reminded me how powerful language, patience, and belonging are in a child’s learning journey.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received the $25,000, I would invest in hands-on learning materials in Spanish to enrich my immersion classroom and strengthen bilingual development. I would add culturally meaningful books, manipulatives, and interactive resources that help children connect language with real experiences. I would also support families by sharing materials that encourage Spanish learning at home, helping build a stronger bridge between school, culture, and community.
