Tell us why you became a teacher

I have always been interested in teaching others but didn’t know it was my passion until I started ministering to my kids in Hearne, Texas. This is where I found a love for furthering the kids knowledge while setting a good example for them. Growing a relationship and cultivating a welcoming environment is where it all starts!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

This past year a student came to me below grade level and seemed to have low confidence in himself. So, I made sure to spend extra time with him and build his knowledge with a hard curriculum. Our latest unit was statistics and he spent an hour and half on it and then submitted his test. He got a 96 which was his first passing test grade and his first A! His face lit up and he was so excited! He ran up and down telling every one of the teachers his great test score! I was so incredibly proud!!

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I won the $25,000, it would be life changing. I am pretty early in my teaching career and it would give me a chance to invest in classroom resources for my students, flexible seating, and maybe even give my kids a fun experience or field trip before they graduate from 5th and 6th grade this year. It would be such a blessing! Thanks for the opportunity!
