Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to share my passion for science with others. I have always been curious about how the world works and teaching gives me the opportunity to continue learning every day by fostering curiosity in my students. My high school science teachers helped build my confidence in the subjects, so I strive each day to do the same for all of my students by creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences as an educator was serving as a teacher-advisor for my school's Rocket Club. This opportunity was especially meaningful because I was able to watch my students apply their knowledge of science and engineering beyond the classroom. Through this experience, students qualified for and competed in NASA's Student Launch Initiative, where they collaborated directly with NASA engineers to design and build a high-powered rocket.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I had the opportunity to receive $25,000, I would revamp my high school classroom by purchasing updated equipment to support hands-on learning in both chemistry and physics lab. This funding would allow me to provide students with meaningful, inquiry-based experiences that strengthen their understanding of scientific concepts. Additionally, it would help prepare students for college-level science coursework.
