Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher to help students see what they’re capable of, especially when they doubt themselves. Many walk into math class convinced they’ll hate it or aren’t “math people,” and I love changing that mindset. Watching confidence grow, curiosity spark, and students realize they can succeed is incredibly rewarding and reminds me why teaching truly matters.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was watching a student who began the year convinced they were “bad at math” finally understand a concept they had struggled with for weeks. The moment it clicked, their face lit up and they said, “Wait… I actually get this!” Seeing their confidence grow from that point on reminded me that teaching isn’t just about content — it’s about helping students believe in themselves.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would use the $25,000 toward a down payment on a house, helping create financial stability and a place to call my home! Having that security would allow me to focus on teaching and continue bringing my best energy, creativity, and support to my students every day!
