Being a safe place for kids to grow. When they feel safe, they learn. I love to challenge them to think deeply and help shape their future.

Teaching wasn’t my original plan. I earned a business degree and had a successful career in sales. But one day, while I was disciplining my 5-year-old son, a friend who was a school administrator overheard and asked if I had ever considered teaching. In that moment, it clicked. Teaching allows me to pour into children’s lives, help shape their futures, and be present for my own family at the same time. It’s where I’m meant to be.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceA new student joined our school in 4th grade, and we quickly realized she couldn’t read and didn’t know all her letters. With her parents’ support, she moved to my 3rd grade class to rebuild those foundations. On her first day, she cried, hugged me, and asked if I would teach her to read. That moment has stayed with me. It reminded me that teaching isn’t just about academics—it’s about meeting a child where they are and helping them believe they can succeed.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the majority of $25,000 to bring updated technology into my classroom. We are an academically focused school, and having modern tools would give my students even more opportunities to learn and thrive. And if I’m being honest, I might set aside just a little for a mini vacation—because a refreshed teacher is an even better teacher.
