I had a second grade teacher that helped me and made a huge impact on me as a student and learner. Because of her I wanted to be the exact same person to children year after year as well!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable moment isn’t a happy one. I had a student who hated to leave. Wanted to stay with me everyday. I had a horrible feeling but couldn’t do anything about it at the time. Then she came back to me after missing two days of school and was so badly beaten by her father it broke my heart, almost broke me, as I thought I had failed her. I helped to get her and her siblings out of his care. She became my why. Why I show up, why I watch, why I take an interest in every child in my class.
What would you do with the $25,000?Finish paying of my student loans and then with the rest I would set up an after school tutoring program for our community to better meet the needs of our students and provide a safe haven for all children in our community!
