I became a teacher because I loved being around kids growing up. As a teenager I started babysitting and tutoring and I had so much fun, I looked forward to it. Some kids might not get stability everywhere, but they get it with me, daily! Being at work is my happy place, I once had a 2nd grade student give me a rug that said, "it's always happy hour here" haha! I truly enjoy teaching them!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI have a couple! Most recently my class had the opportunity to video call a class in Greece! We had just finished up a Greek mythology and civilization. It was amazing to get the opportunity to ask real questions and learn some words in their language! I have no doubt that my students will never forget it. Another memory was a student that came to second grade not knowing any letters or numbers. She suffered from severe anxiety. We developed an amazing relationship and she left as a reader!
What would you do with the $25,000?I would invest in the culture of my classroom by finding STEM activities and possibly an author visit! I would also invest in myself by getting my 4-9 license.
