As an ASD teacher, I found my passion for teaching young children with autism. I love seeing the world through their eyes!

I became a special education ASD teacher because I believe every child deserves to feel seen, understood, and valued. I want my students with autism to access their learning in their local schools and truly belong. My goal is not just to teach them, but to advocate for inclusion, help educators adapt their instruction, and create school communities where differences are respected and celebrated.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI think it’s not one moment but it’s the experience of witnessing a child saying their first word or using their AAC device in order to communicate with the world around them. That feeling of knowing you actually made a difference in that child’s life.
What would you do with the $25,000?I want to create a sensory room in my school that provides a safe, calming environment where students can regulate their emotions and sensory needs. This space would support self-regulation, reduce behavioral challenges, and help students return to learning ready to succeed.
