Tell us why you became a teacher

Looking back, teaching feels like something that was always meant for me. When I was little, I played teacher and my nana would call me “Miss Ashely” as if she already knew what my future would hold. Years later, when I unexpectedly found myself in a classroom setting, it felt like everything had come full circle.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable experience was helping a quiet little who rarely spoke begin to express themselves. Through patience, play and encouragement, they were able to find their voice and started engaging more with peers. Seeing that growth both academically and socially & emotionally, was a powerful reminder of why I teach.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I don't even know where I would start. I would take the opportunity to step into my next chapter by finishing school with my bachelors in Early Childhood Education and start adding to my savings account!
