I love teaching because sharing knowledge and guiding others to understand complex ideas is deeply rewarding.

I became a teacher because, growing up with limited resources, I faced many obstacles in my education. In technical school and later at CCD and CU Denver, classmates often asked for my help to understand math, physics, circuits, and electronics. As my career advanced, I was invited to teach young people at a training institute. Later, as a design engineer at PDVSA CIED, I trained junior engineers in international standards and developed courses to transfer practical engineering experience.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable teaching experiences happened years after helping classmates at CCD and CU Denver. Forty years later, one told me, “If it hadn’t been for you, I wouldn’t have graduated.” Another time, I met a former student at a company who said he had his job because of a course I taught. Moments like these, even unexpected encounters in supermarkets, remind me that teaching can change lives.
What would you do with the $25,000?If awarded the $25,000, I would invest in professional certifications to strengthen my knowledge and teaching skills. I would also acquire educational tools and technology to create better learning experiences and expand opportunities for students, especially those who need practical guidance to build confidence and succeed in technical careers.
