Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe the early years shape a child’s confidence, curiosity, and love of learning. As both a preschool teacher and a mother, I see how powerful it is when a child feels safe, capable, and excited to learn. I love creating an environment where children discover new skills, ask questions, and begin to see themselves as capable learners. There is no greater job than working with children

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable experiences happened years after I taught first grade. I made the difficult decision to recommend a student repeat the grade because I believed it was what he truly needed. Years later, when he was a high school senior, his parent emailed me to thank me for advocating for him. He was graduating with honors, a member of the National Honor Society, and attending college on scholarship. Knowing I helped set that foundation meant everything.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would save as much of the money as possible and use a portion to help pay down my student loans. The majority would be invested back into my classroom. I would purchase proven, research-based supplemental curricula and materials that support early literacy, math, and hands-on learning. These resources would strengthen the learning experiences I provide and help my students build strong foundations for future success.
