I’ve always wanted to be a teacher. Helping students understand math and grow in confidence is what makes teaching so rewarding.

I became a teacher because I have always believed that education changes lives. Growing up, I saw how powerful it was when a teacher truly believed in their students. I wanted to be that person for others. Math, in particular, has always been my passion because it teaches problem-solving, confidence, and perseverance. Many students walk into math class believing they cannot succeed, and I love helping them realize that they are capable of far more than they think.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable teaching experiences was with a student who struggled deeply with math and often said, “I’m just not good at this.” Instead of giving up, we worked together step by step, focusing on small victories and building confidence. Over time, I watched that student’s attitude completely change. The moment that stands out most was when they solved a challenging problem on their own and proudly said, “I did it!”
What would you do with the $25,000?If I were awarded $25,000, I would invest it directly into my classroom and my students’ learning experiences. I would purchase updated classroom technology, hands-on math resources, and engaging materials that help make abstract concepts more meaningful and accessible.
