Tell us why you became a teacher

After having kids, I began volunteering at their school and saw firsthand the impact teachers can have on young lives. I felt God calling me to this work, so I returned to school to finish my degree. The journey was not always easy, but through His guidance and answered prayers, doors opened I never imagined. Every challenge, every step, confirmed that God was leading me. I am now living the purpose He placed on my heart, helping children grow and discover the world with joy and faith.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I am a first-year teacher, after many years of preparing for this incredible adventure! So far, this year has not been easy, but it has been unforgettable. Teaching kindergarten at an amazing Christian school has shown me that no story is too good or too wild to be true! From kids shoving beads up their noses, yelling at the top of their lungs in excitement, to witnessing a child read for the first time and begin their journey with Christ are experiences I would never trade or forget.

What would you do with the $25,000?

Because I teach at a private Christian school, my salary is significantly lower than the local public districts. Much of what I want for my classroom, I purchase out of pocket. My classroom is fairly small, so there isn’t much room for movement. With additional support, I would love to transform my classroom into a flexible seating environment, allowing five- and six-year-olds to learn in a space that encourages comfort, movement, and engagement.
