I became a teacher because of my mom. I am a second generation special education teacher and I spent my summers as a kid volunteering in her classroom. I fell absolutely in love with teaching students with autism. I knew if I was half as amazing as her that I would be a great teacher.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable experience was watching my nonverbal student learn how to use a communication board for the first time. He would tantrum because no one could understand what he wanted. When he learned how to use the communication board, he was so happy to finally be heard.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the money to pay for a Master's degree. I want to further my education and improve my skills as a teacher so I can better support my students. I would specifically like to pursue a Masters in Special Education.
