I became a teacher because I felt a calling to work with and help children grow into contributing, happy and successful adults. I love teaching because it allows me to see the world through children's eyes which has deepened my sense of empathy and understanding for all that is around me.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most impactful experiences has was teaching my "Etiquette Across Cultures" unit where I taught my students traditions, customs and table manners in various cultures. The unit assessment was a formal tea party. Everyone dressed in their finest clothes and we had a formal tea party in the classroom with real china, table cloths and beautiful flowers on the tables. Parents donated decadent snacks and their time to be servers for the party. Students demonstrated all they learned in style!
What would you do with the $25,000?I would create a college fund for my one year old son. I want to set him up for success now and in the future! I would also like to give back to my community directly and support my schools efforts to expand and improve our school gardens.
