Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a special education teacher because I believe every child deserves to feel valued, capable, and supported. I was drawn to the opportunity to advocate for students who learn differently and to help them discover their strengths. Seeing the impact of patience, creativity, and encouragement inspired me to create inclusive spaces where students can grow in confidence and independence. Being part of their progress, no matter how small, is what makes this work meaningful and deeply rewarding.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was watching a student who struggled to communicate independently present their project to the class for the first time. After weeks of practice, encouragement, and small breakthroughs, they stood tall and shared their ideas with confidence. The pride on their face and the supportive applause from classmates reminded me why I teach. It wasn’t just about the assignment it was about courage, growth, and believing in themselves.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest some of the money to purchase adaptive learning tools to better support my students diverse needs. I would create a sensory friendly space with flexible seating and calming resources to help with focus and regulation. I would try to set some money aside for my students for social skills books. Another portion I would use to pay off my student debt when getting my degree and continue my education to get my masters.
