Tell us why you became a teacher

Growing up as the eldest of five, I faced an environment with limited educational resources and support. This led to considerable discomfort and hesitation in seeking help. I was determined to prevent others from experiencing similar emotional challenges. My fifth-grade teacher profoundly influenced me, demonstrating how an exceptional individual can shape a child's development, which in turn inspired my dedication to fostering learning in others.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

A student, who had been experiencing significant challenges with focus, contemplating self-harm, lacking direction, and feeling isolated, approached me after class. He conveyed that my influence had profoundly impacted him, particularly that morning, and credited me with saving his life. He further elaborated that my class had fundamentally altered his perspective across all the aforementioned areas. What would you do with the $25,000?

I would allocate a portion to savings, assist my mother in completing her High School diploma, provide a new educator with classroom supplies, support a single parent with essential needs, and dedicate a week to my personal well-being.
