Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I understand the power of being seen. Every student reaches a moment when they question their worth or ability. I chose this profession to remind them they are capable and that their voice matters. Education is more than content; it builds confidence, courage, and curiosity. I teach not just to deliver lessons, but to shape futures and create a space where students feel safe to grow.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was watching my Math 3 class pass the EOC with measurable growth. Even students who had missed days or struggled all semester. They learned to apply themselves, use tools like Desmos strategically, and believe they could succeed. Seeing their excitement after conquering an exam they once feared affirmed my confidence as a first-year teacher and reminded me why I do this work.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded $25,000, I would invest it in the future of my students. I would establish a sustainable fund for the Southern Belles Club to continue awarding our annual scholarship and expand opportunities for students with limited financial means. The funding would support postsecondary preparation, life skills development, and transformative experiences that broaden their horizons and remind them that their dreams are within reach.
