Angie Buckner

I love being a teacher because it’s an honor to be a small part in a child’s life. Watching a child learn and grow is inspiring.

Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher so that I could inspire children and help them grow. It’s a privilege to be able to take part in a child’s learning experience. Seeing their growth and making sure they feel safe and loved is an important role.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching moment is when I had the daughter of a former student in class. It was very special. Of course there are many instances each year of seeing children grow and learn to read. They might come to school only knowing a few letters and then be reading at the end of kindergarten.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would take my family on vacation or pay some bills. Of course I’d have a fun pizza party for my class too.
