I became an educator because I believe every child deserves an adult at school who truly sees them. As a school counselor, I wanted to be someone students could trust, someone who listens, encourages them, and reminds them they are capable of AMAZING things. Inspiring children to grow in confidence and kindness, along with some creativity mixed in, is the most meaningful work I can imagine.

One of my most memorable teaching experiences has been working with foster students who may not always have a consistent adult in their lives. Being able to support these students and their families, and to serve as a safe, trusted person for them, is incredibly meaningful to me. Knowing that I can offer stability, encouragement, and care reminds me every day why this work matters. Seeing I’ve made even a small difference in a child’s life deepens my love for this work each year.

I would use $25,000 to expand social-emotional supports for students and provide teachers with additional tools by strengthening our school’s PBIS system, enhancing calming spaces, and purchase resources that promote belonging, kindness, and emotional regulation. My goal is to help create a school environment where every child and educator feels supported, empowered, and equipped to succeed both in school and beyond. I also plan to advance my degrees in education to better grow as an educator.
