Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe education changes lives. I wanted to use my background in fashion, business, and mentoring to help students discover their talents, build real-world skills, and grow in confidence. Teaching lets me pour into the next generation, create opportunities I wish I had, and guide students toward purpose, professionalism, and self-belief.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was watching a shy student design and sew her first complete garment for our school fashion show. She doubted herself every step of the way, but with encouragement and practice, she walked the runway glowing with pride. Seeing her confidence transform reminded me that teaching is more than skills—it’s about helping students see their potential, find their voice, and believe they belong in any room they enter.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If selected as America’s Favorite Teacher, I would of course use part of the $25,000 to pay off debt, but more importantly, I would invest it into lasting opportunities for my students. I would create a summer program focused on sewing skills, confidence building, and health equity, giving students meaningful, hands-on learning beyond the school year.
