Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe education is one of the most powerful opportunities a child can have. In many parts of the world, children are denied that opportunity—girls are forbidden from going to school and boys are forced into violence instead of classrooms. Seeing those realities made me realize how valuable free public education truly is. I wanted to be part of a system that gives every child the chance to learn, grow, and build a future through education.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience was the first time I stepped into my own classroom. I remember standing there in awe because I had worked so hard to get certified and become a teacher. After all the studying, training, and preparation, it finally felt real. Seeing the classroom, knowing that it was now my responsibility to guide and teach those students, was both humbling and exciting. What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received the $25,000, I would invest much of it into my classroom by purchasing hands-on science materials and lab equipment so students can explore and investigate concepts, not just read about them. I would also use part of it to reduce personal debt so I can better invest in my own children’s educational future. Education creates opportunity, and this would allow me to expand those opportunities both in my classroom and at home.
