Learn MoreI am a teacher of the Visually Impaired!! What could be cooler!! I first became a teacher because I enjoy seeing a student light up when something finally "clicks"! And when a student can suddenly see better and access the world around them, more doors are opened at the same time! And teaching braille opens all the doors!!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience was when my blind 6 year old student and I presented to her first grade class. We shared with the class about her blindness and explained how she reads and writes. It was so inspiring to hear her talk with confidence and excitement about her skills and what made her so special!
What would you do with the $25,000?If I won $25,000, I would get as many braille books as I could for my students. Then I would send my parents on a vacation because they haven't taken one in 20+ years. I'd also donate a portion to a local restaurant that has a "pay what you can" method to help hungrey people in my community.
