I love teaching because I get to share my passion for math, spark excitement in kids, and reignite their love for the subject.
Thank you for supporting Anamaria in this year's competition. Your donations and participation will benefit The Planetary Society in their mission to advance space exploration, inspire discovery, and empower the next generation of innovators.
Since first grade, I've dreamed of teaching, grading papers, and sparking learning. My practicum with all ages deepened my love for kids. I reignite their passion for math through fun Ronayne games. Rejecting the idea that IEP/504 students "don't need to learn," I empower every child to succeed. Desk jobs drained me; I was born to guide kids toward STEM passions through joyful interaction.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceTeaching at Arlington, I supported 15 students with disabilities. While others hesitated, I focused on two with severe autism and behavioral needs, teaching them HS math and literacy. Mid-summer, we played Kahoot!—a fast-paced skills game. Without my help, my non-verbal student took 1st place, and my other student took 2nd. It was a beautiful day; their victory proved that with perseverance and high expectations, they can master the same material as any peer.
What would you do with the $25,000?I'd use the $25,000 to honor my journey through school. First, $5,000 goes to the classroom: buying a TI-calculator set and a fund for those personalized gifts that mean so much. I'd invest $13,000 in an index fund; in 5 years, it could grow to $18,000+ to fund your mom's laundry room for her help with my dyslexia. Finally, $7,000 in a Roth IRA secures my future. Like my students who won at Kahoot!, this plan uses strategy and perseverance to turn a gift into a lasting legacy.
