I love teaching because I get to spark curiosity, build confidence, and help students see their power.

I became a teacher because I wanted to help students see how interesting and fun science is. I also wanted to follow in the footsteps of all the teachers that inspired me to be better and to achieve my goals.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable teaching experience is when my biology class had to compete with other biology classes on the cells unit during a jeopardy tournament. I had one college prep biology class and most of the students were struggling academically in many classes. I told the class that we would be competing other classes including an honors class. We studied and prep for competition day. We ended up winning first place. All my students were proud of themselves.
What would you do with the $25,000?Winning the America’s Favorite Teacher Contest would allow me to expand hands-on science opportunities for my students at our Title I high school. It would also allow me to take care of some personal obligations.
