Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because this work is deeply personal to me. Growing up with my older sister, diagnosed with cerebral palsy, taught me the meaning of patience, compassion, & truly meeting the needs of every individual. Through loving & learning from her, I developed a deep appreciation for the strength & potential within the special needs community. She inspired a passion for teaching and commitment to creating a supportive environment where every student feels valued, understood, & capable.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

This year, four of my five students spoke their first word!!!

What would you do with the $25,000?

First, I would tithe and give back in gratitude for this blessing. Then, I would honor my mother’s memory by purchasing a beautiful headstone worthy of the love she gave to me. With the remaining funds, I would create a Senior Prom for our senior community—a population too often unseen. Every senior deserves a night of joy, dignity, music, and connection, reminding them they are deeply valued and never forgotten.
