Initially, I just loved school. I loved learning. I'd come home from school and play school. I had a teacher in fifth grade. She made me feel defeated. I would never be successful in her eyes. I was gifted, but was experiencing some trauma at home. Instead of helping me, she took me out of gifted. I didn't like school anymore. I failed. My tenth grade history teacher saved me. She helped me. She gave me hope. I graduated because of her. I often think of her. I want to be a teacher like her.

It is so hard to pick one! I often wonder if my students truly are learning from me with so much to distract them in the 21st century. However, today I had a field trip to the natural history museum with them. As I walked around my students were talking to their chaperones and pointing out things we've learned in class. I beamed with pride and my heart swelled. They were inquisitive, well-mannered, and a true joy to experience today.

I would provide each classroom with computers as we prepare our students for typing and state tests. I would also make sure I fill our brand new library with books. I would maybe spend a little on family honestly, because I couldn't do it without them!
