Learn MoreHonestly, I tried to avoid teaching at first. But, after my first two years of college and an internship at a law firm, I realized that becoming an attorney was not for me. Somewhere deep down I always knew that education and working with the youth was were I found the most joy. So, I changed my path and became a Middle School Teacher.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceI love the "wow" moments, but one of the most memorable moments for me was when I was off fighting breast cancer. They wrote me letters of encouragement and told me how much they missed me. They were the reason that I fought so hard to come back so quickly. That experience didn’t just make an impact—it changed me. It reminded me that teaching isn’t just about lessons and standards; it’s about connection, compassion, and being part of something bigger than yourself.
What would you do with the $25,000?If awarded the $25,000, I would set aside a portion of the funds to support students in need. I work in a very low‑income area, and many of my students do not always have access to basic necessities. This money would allow me to ensure that no student goes without essential items that support their well‑being and academic success. Additionally, I would look into investing a portion of the money so I could establish a yearly scholarship for a deserving student—helping support their future beyond.
