I am a Special Education teacher and I love teaching my students life skills that will benefit them outside of the classroom.

I became a teacher because I had a fabulous high school teacher that was an excellent role model for myself. I wanted to cultivate relationships with students just as my high school teacher did for me. Later in my career I decided to become a special education teacher to reach students with disabilities. I had a desire to make sure students with disabilities are seen, heard, and can learn. Watching a child with a disability flourish and grow is one of my greatest joys.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my greatest memories as a teacher was watching a child with an Intellectual Disability and Autism begin to speak and express themself. Over the course of a year and a half the student began to speak directly to me telling me their wants, needs, and desires. This student began to trust me and began to communicate with me daily. Watching this child blossom was truly remarkable.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I had $25,000 I would further my education to become the best teacher I could be. I believe that learning continuously helps sharpen my teaching skills and allows me to bring my best practices to my classroom.
