Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to make learning fun and memorable for kids. I had some amazing teachers growing up that inspired me. I'd love to be that person for my students.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of the most memorable moments that comes to mind was at a 5th grade promotion ceremony. Students I had when they were in 3rd grade were giving speeches about their time at the school. A boy who had given me a run for my money came up and his speech was all about how I had been so patient with him and actually cared about him. I was in tears by the end of it because it was such a great feeling hearing that I had made a difference in this boy's learning experience.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would donate some of it to the local food banks that many of our students rely on. Then, I would put the rest towards my 3 young daughters' college funds.
