Tell us why you became a teacher

Becoming a teacher was an unexpected path that became my purpose. Growing up in Philadelphia taught me resilience, but an encounter with Jesus shifted my view of success toward serving others. As a health teacher specializing in sex, social, and relational education, I create safe spaces where students can learn about identity, relationships, and healthy choices while gaining knowledge that will guide their lives.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable lessons was teaching hygiene to my high school students. I wore a lab coat and kicked things off by playing “Wipe Me Down” by Lil Boosie to grab their attention. Partnering with the school nurse, we led an interactive lesson on personal care and often-missed hygiene habits. We ended by giving every 11th and 12th grader a hygiene kit to take home and use.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would first use it to pay down major bills and reduce debt #DestinyChildBillsBillsBills. I’d also put some into a high-yield savings account for the future and take a meaningful vacation to recharge. Most importantly, I would use part of the funds to support a student by sponsoring a scholarship opportunity or helping them attend an academic or athletic camp.
