Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I believe every child deserves someone who truly sees them, believes in them, and reminds them of their worth. Not all students have that support, and I felt called to be that person. Teaching allows me to impact not just academics, but confidence, character, and mindset. I strive to create a classroom where kindness is modeled, growth is celebrated, and every child knows they are capable of more than they think.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable moments was when a student who struggled with reading finally understood figurative language and confidently said, “Slay queen, teach it!” It was more than just a lesson it was growth, confidence, and joy all in one moment. Seeing students go from unsure to confident reminds me why I do this. Those small wins are everything, and they stay with me long after the lesson ends.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would create a classroom that removes barriers and maximizes opportunity. I would invest in diverse books, digital learning tools, and hands-on resources that strengthen reading comprehension and engagement. I would also provide meaningful incentives and experiences that motivate students to love learning. My goal is to build confident readers and learners by giving them the tools, support, and environment they need to succeed.
