Teaching has opened so many doors for me. I love being able to shape students minds and connect with them and their families

Tell us why you became a teacher

I had so many teachers that inspired me throughout my lifetime. I struggled a bit in school and went through some hard times with my family and my teachers were always my number one supporters and my safe space. To this day I still connect with my elementary school teachers and remind them that they are the reason I chose this path.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I lost my mom my first year of teaching. During the pandemic, on zoom, teaching kindergarten. Safe to say I was lost in more ways than one. I remember returning to school after bereavement leave. There was a steam pipe burst in my room and my 15 kindergarteners and I had to move all the way up to the third floor. My kindergarten team set up a brand new room for me while I was away and every student came in and ran to me with open arms, and reminded me they will always be there to love me forever

What would you do with the $25,000?

So many things. My husband and I just got married this past September. I would use the money to support us in trying to get our very first home. We have always lived with our families
