Amber Thacker

I love watching my students question the world around them and figure things out, connecting the dots between class and the big picture.

Tell us why you became a teacher

To spread the love of science with a focus on bio and chem. I wanted to do something with my biology degree and I liked working with others figuring out the whys and how's of things. Seeing it click when they get something or when they come up with new questions to continue learning is worth it.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

Most memorable would be my first year teaching ap research. Seeing them do the entire research process and go from a passion project to a full undergrad research with presentation of defense us amazing. Seeing their projects come to life and change and pushing them to do their best and then them succeeding has made me so proud of them.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would pay off some bills so that way I can focus on teaching and coaching. By having these bills paid off i could hace more time to find new ways to help my students with creating new curriculum that uses what their interested in or things to help my team.
