Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I wanted to make a difference in children’s lives. Every child deserves someone who believes in them, encourages them, and helps them discover what they’re capable of. Being able to support, guide, and inspire my students is incredibly rewarding, and knowing I can play even a small role in their growth is what motivates me every single day.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of my most memorable teaching experiences was seeing a student who struggled with confidence finally believe in themselves. At the beginning of the year, they were very quiet and unsure of their abilities. Over time, with encouragement and support, I watched them start participating more, smiling more, and taking pride in their work. The moment they proudly shared something they had accomplished with the class was incredibly special.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received the $25,000, I would use it to expand literacy support for struggling readers. I would invest in research-based intervention programs, engaging books, and hands-on resources that help students build foundational reading skills and confidence. Watching a child go from frustration to proudly reading on their own is life-changing, and this funding would help me give more students that moment of success.
