I became a teacher because I felt it was my calling from an early age. As I grew, I imagined myself in the position of all my teachers: how I would decorate the room, how I would set up the desks, how I would do the activities, and now I get to actually do it! I love creating my classroom with fun themes, decorating for the holidays, planning fun, engaging lessons, and connecting with each group of students I come in contact with.

It was definitely my “Storybook Stem” after school club. We did a read aloud of a book, then completed a stem activity to go with it. My favorite was the book “The True Story of the Three Little Pigs.” We read the story, then the students had to create a house the big bad wolf couldn’t knock down. I decorated my hair dryer to be the wolf, and as they worked I hid and “knocked” at the window as the wolf. At the end, I came in with the wolf to try to blow down the houses. We laughed so much!

I would use it to sponsor fun field trips to places students would normally not have access to due to the cost. I would also use it to travel to new places around the world, so I can learn and experience new things! Anything else would go to my two favorite organizations: the ASPCA and St. Jude’s.
