I love teaching special education because every small breakthrough changes a life—and I get to celebrate those victories every day.

I became an ESE teacher from personal experience and purpose. Knowing someone with a disability helped me see beyond labels and inspired me to support students meaningfully. I chose this path to make a difference, not for recognition, but to find purpose in helping students grow, gain confidence, and achieve their goals, no matter how small.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceOne of my most memorable experiences was helping a student transition from ESE to full-time general education. I supported their academic skills, confidence, and independence, collaborating with teachers and family. Seeing them participate confidently, manage assignments, and thrive academically was unforgettable, showing the profound impact of guidance, encouragement, and belief in a student’s potential.
What would you do with the $25,000?I would use the $25,000 to enhance student learning and support, including adaptive tools, classroom technology, and resources for individualized instruction. I would also invest in my professional development, working toward my master’s degree, to better serve diverse student needs and create an environment where every student can grow, build confidence, and reach their full potential.
