I became a teacher because it’s in my roots. My mom taught, and watching her pour into her students showed me the impact one caring adult can have. My dad and grandmother also believed deeply in education and leading by example. Growing up around that kind of dedication shaped me. Teaching isn’t just my career, it’s part of my family’s legacy, and I’m proud to continue it.

One of my most memorable experiences as a teacher was watching a child who struggled with confidence finally believe in themselves. After weeks of encouragement and practice, they completed a task on their own and looked up at me with the biggest smile saying, “I did it!” That moment reminded me why I do this. It’s not just about lessons, it’s about helping children see their own strength and potential.

If I received $25,000, I’d invest it with intention. First, I’d set aside a portion for my family, making sure our foundation is secure. Then I’d put money toward creating enriching experiences and resources for my classroom so my students can learn in engaging, hands-on ways. I’d also save and invest part of it to build long-term stability. It wouldn’t just be spending, it would be planting seeds for growth, at home and in my work.
