Students need an intentional leader who is not just a teacher, but also an active learner themselves. I became a teacher to be a part of the village and what it takes to shape a young mind. It is always my goal to involve students using the curriculum and the world around them. What means the most to me is that not every student learns the same and because of that I’m willing to take the extra step to ensure that every student around me is trying, growing, and involved!

Student A and B were having an argument about whose answer was correct. Student A (correct answer) walks up to the learning goal to restate something along the lines of “We are using multiplication and my answer is correct because it follows the following steps.” As a teacher, it is my goal for students to be leading their learning and measuring their own success. That will forever be in my heart as I am looking to build leaders not compliers.

$25,000 would be a huge resource to me as both a teacher and a human navigating the current economy. The $25,000 would be used to go towards funding my classroom’s day to day projects, incentives, and daily resources. Teachers face many barriers that carry outside of the classroom. Financial barriers are almost always present and this would help to alleviate one of the many stressors in my life.
