Tell us why you became a teacher

I always wanted to be a teacher! As a kid I thought it was so cool that adults could work with kids and do fun experiments and activities to make learning exciting. I strive to be the kind of teacher I would have wanted as a kid. I struggled with math throughout my time in school. Fortunately, I had a couple of teachers who were very patient and encouraging and never made me feel “dumb” for not understanding. They gave me confidence and I try to have that same care for my students.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

I have taught preschool, Title 1 reading (K-5), and first grade and throughout all of that it’s been the most memorable and rewarding experience to see my students grow and become more confident learners.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would take my family on a cruise, donate to a local charity, and save the rest!
