I became a teacher because I know what it’s like to have really strong black leaders in front of you as a child and I know how important that is for black kids to see. They should see that they can succeed and they can do anything their hearts desire.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceMy most memorable experience was when I saw my student struggling. They were at a point when they were crying and they felt like they couldn’t solve the question. They didn’t give up and they truly pushed through it and the relief and the joy on their face when they finally got it was a smile I never saw before.
What would you do with the $25,000?If I won the 25,000 I would buy some books for my class, and I would also have a pizza party with them. Lastly I would put the rest away for my future kids and their schooling experience.
