Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because I grew up understanding the struggles of poverty and how powerful education can be in changing a life. My high school dance teacher inspired me with passion, discipline, and belief in every student’s potential. Above all, my mom taught me resilience and the value of hard work. Their influence shaped my path, and now I hope to inspire my students to believe in themselves and rise beyond their circumstances.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience began when I first taught in Manila, Philippines. After a year, I took a leap of faith and moved to Thailand in 2009 to continue teaching. It was challenging to start in a new country, but it helped me grow as an educator and person. There, I also followed my passion for dance and formed my own dance troupe. Through teaching and the arts, I was able to help shape students’ lives while supporting my family.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If I received $25,000, I would invest it in creating more opportunities for my students through arts, reading, and social-emotional learning activities. I would also support programs that encourage creativity, such as dance and movement, which have always been part of my passion. Most importantly, I would use it to help provide resources that inspire students to believe in themselves and reach their full potential.
