Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because impact matters to me. As the oldest, responsibility and leadership came naturally. I believe education changes lives, and I wanted to be part of that transformation. I don’t just teach content, I build confidence, accountability, and vision. I show up every day determined to be a steady presence, advocate for their needs, and help them see potential in themselves before they fully see it.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching experience wasn’t a single lesson, it was watching a student who had almost given up realize they were capable. Seeing the shift in their confidence, the moment it clicked, reminded me why I do this work. It’s the quiet victories, the graduations that almost didn’t happen, the thank-you messages years later. Those moments stay with me. They’re the proof that what I do matters.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would invest it where it multiplies impact by upgrading resources for my students. Such as: technology, flexible seating, and incentives that make learning feel empowering. I’d also invest in professional growth dedicated to integrating innovative AI tools that personalize learning, close achievement gaps, and better prepare my students for a rapidly evolving world. I’d also create scholarship support for students who just need a small financial push to stay on track.
