Seeing the difference and change made in students I’ve worked with felt so special. These kids need so much and so many are unable to or unwilling to help them. It means the world to see them make progress, learn, and grow.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceBeing able to help a student profoundly deaf with behavioral issues and no language. I taught her ASL so she was eventually approved for an interpreter, she worked for a token economy and began to enjoy learning and communicating. It felt so special to see I could do that for her.
What would you do with the $25,000?Put it towards my profession, my classroom, and myself so I can thrive and continue in this career. Often we are underpaid and overworked and I see so many quit and I want so desperately to not get to that same point due to lack of resources and stability.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like America's Favorite Teacher, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
