Growing up in a rural area, school was my amusement park. I was transported into a magical world where imagination became reality. My decision to become a teacher is rooted in my desire to provide students with the same support, encouragement, and care I received from the educators that shaped my confidence and love of learning!
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceA memorable moment in my teaching came when a fifth-grade student joined my advanced ELA class with a history of behavioral struggles. I welcomed him as a valued member of our class from day one. Over time, with consistent unconditional support, he was leading discussions and holding peers accountable. This experience proved that when teachers show genuine care and respect for students as individuals, it can transform their confidence and potential in and beyond the classroom.
What would you do with the $25,000?With 25,000 I would pay off my student loans! My husband sacrifices to serve in the Navy reserves, and currently that income is allocated toward my debt. Also, I would waste no time creating my dream classroom and helping build my ELA team’s classroom libraries. The money would also benefit my intervention book club and breakfast club tutoring initiatives. Lastly, I would to take my children overseas so they could experience the depth and diversity of the world beyond what they see daily.
