I became a teacher because little people deserve big believers. I love being the steady, happy place in a kid’s day—where messy feelings are okay, trying counts, and we celebrate the small wins like they’re huge (because they are). Kindergarten is where confidence begins, and I want every child to leave my room believing, “I can do hard things.”

A student came to me with big behaviors and an even bigger story behind them. Some days were hard—resetting, reteaching, starting over. We built trust first, then tools: routines, choices, calm-downs, and lots of “I’ve got you.” By spring, that same kid was passing out supplies, helping classmates, and leading with pride. Now she loves learning—and I get to watch her grow into an awesome human.

I’d be realistic and stretch it. A big chunk would go straight to kids: books they actually want, hands-on science/STEM, fine-motor and calming tools, and a few memorable experiences. I’d also set aside some to support my own family and life—because teachers pour a lot out every day. I’d use it wisely, but with my students at the center.
