I love teaching because I get to share my love of reading, build relationships, be creative, have fun, & watch students grow into their own!

When I was younger, I knew my one goal in life was to help people. I’ve always loved reading and being creative, so teaching was my first ever dream job! Once I started actually teaching, getting to know the students, teaching in a way that they understood, I knew I was exactly where I needed to be.
Tell us about your most memorable teaching experienceLike most teachers, I love love love when something finally clicks for learners! During BHM, my students finished a research project and were burnt out and barely remembered facts. A week later, I put the names of more figures on a spinning wheel, assigned each student a name, and gave them 20 minutes to learn all they could. They created a half pager with 3 symbols, 2 facts, and 1 quote. The kids LOVED it and was able to present about their figure. I love fun and engaging activities!
What would you do with the $25,000?I would transform my classroom into a cozy reading centered room where students actually want to read. With flexible seating, warm lighting, pillows, and inviting book displays, the space would feel more like a cafe than a classroom. Students could explore books comfortably, share recommendations, and build a love for reading. My goal is to create an environment where reading feels relaxing, exciting, and truly student-centered!
