I became a teacher because education is my legacy. Both of my parents were teachers, and my aunt began in the classroom before becoming a principal. I teach to see children grow, build meaningful relationships, and discover their confidence. In first grade, I lay strong foundations and help students believe in themselves as learners and leaders.

My most memorable experiences are the moments I see full-circle growth at the end of the year—academically, socially, and emotionally. Watching students become confident readers, stronger mathematicians, and kinder classmates is the real reward. Publishing class books and hosting a red-carpet celebration, where students read their work, sign copies, and take a bow in front of their families, is a moment none of us ever forget.

With $25,000, I would invest in my school and students by expanding classroom libraries, funding hands-on learning experiences, and creating lasting resources that support academic growth. I would also use a portion to support my pursuit of a master’s degree, strengthening my practice and leadership. When educators grow, students thrive.
