Tell us why you became a teacher

I was inspired by my own middle and high school choir teachers for their ability to form positive relationships with students, assess their abilities, and channel those abilities into supporting the rest of the class. They gave me many unique leadership opportunities, and I was moved towards music education thanks to them!

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

One of the best moments I have experienced as a teacher was bringing one of my middle school choirs to MSVMA State Festival and receiving the highest rating available. This was that group's first time ever "competing" as a choir, and they rose to the challenge and were highly successful! On a more personal level, there is nothing I enjoy more than the brief conversations I have with students in the hallway where they keep me updated on their lives and what they are doing outside of school.

What would you do with the $25,000?

If awarded the $25,000, it will primarily be used to support the rapid growth of our choral program through necessary supplies and materials. Some of it will also be used to help me purchase a house closer to school so that I can continue investing in this district!
