Tell us why you became a teacher

I became a teacher because access changes lives. Talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. Every student deserves rigorous instruction, high expectations, and someone who refuses to let them opt out of their potential. I teach to open doors, raise ceilings, and make sure students leave my room more capable and confident than when they walked in.

Tell us about your most memorable teaching experience

My most memorable teaching moment wasn’t tied to a lesson or a test. It was a student who stayed after class, hugged me, and said, “I needed someone who knows I’m good.” That was it. Not smarter. Not perfect. Just good. It reminded me that sometimes what students need most is someone steady in their corner who sees them clearly and doesn’t let them forget their worth.

What would you do with the $25,000?

With $25,000, I would use it in three places. First, I would invest in my own education to be the best I can be for my students. Second, I would create a small scholarship for students who need access to opportunity. Third, I would start a classroom fund to help new teachers set up their rooms on tight salaries. As a math teacher, I want the money to multiply impact for students and educators.
